Warm Homes Plan

Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, announced at the Spending Review that the government would fully fund Labour’s manifesto commitment of £13.2bn for the Warm Homes Plan that will upgrade five million households by the end of the Parliament in 2029.

Now Is the Best Time to Go Ahead with Certification – Here’s Why

As the UK moves forward with ambitious plans to improve energy efficiency in homes, there’s never been a more important time for installers and businesses in the retrofit and renewables sectors to get certified. With government backing and a clear path to futureproofing the country’s housing stock, demand for quality, compliant installers is set to rise sharply, and Simply Certification is here to help you seize the opportunity.

At the recent Spending Review, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling energy inefficiency and rising household bills through bold investment. A central part of this strategy is the Warm Homes Plan, a key pledge from Labour’s manifesto.

£13.2bn Funding Confirmed for Warm Homes Plan

Chancellor Reeves confirmed that the government will fully fund the Warm Homes Plan with £13.2 billion. This massive investment aims to upgrade five million households by the end of the Parliament in 2029, providing a major boost to the energy efficiency sector and offering long-term support for struggling families.

She said:

“To get bills down, not just this winter, but for winters to come, we have expanded the Warm Homes Plan to support thousands more of the UK’s poorest households.”

This commitment represents more than just an investment in infrastructure – it’s a targeted effort to address energy poverty, reduce emissions, and bring long-term financial relief to millions.

“Today I can announce that I will deliver in full our manifesto commitment to upgrade millions of homes, saving families and pensioners across the country up to £600 every single year off their bills.”

That kind of savings – up to £600 per household annually – is a game-changer for families across the UK. For installers and businesses in the energy efficiency sector, it’s also a clear signal: demand for skilled, certified professionals is only going to increase.

Now Is the Time to Get Certified

With such a substantial government commitment and targets set to 2029, the retrofit and renewables market is primed for growth. That’s why Simply Certification continues to welcome applicants for PAS 2030, MCS, and TrustMark certification schemes.

These accreditations are vital for any business looking to operate in the government-backed net-zero space. Without them, companies cannot access key funding streams or participate in many of the upgrade programmes that are part of the Warm Homes Plan.

By becoming certified now, businesses will position themselves as trusted providers in a rapidly growing market – one that values quality, compliance, and proven credentials.

“I am determined to put more money in people’s pockets and give them security in their lives and to make working people better off.”
– Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer

This isn’t just a short-term opportunity – it’s a nationwide movement that will create demand for years to come. Certified installers who act now will be in the best position to support this initiative, win new business, and grow sustainably.

This latest achievement is a testament to the amazing team we have at Simply Certification.

“Our mission is to be the certification body of choice for businesses that operate within the built environment sector, and we continue to make progress towards that ambition.
