Q: Lyndsey, tell us a bit about your career journey with Simply Certification.
I joined Simply Certification with a strong background in compliance and leadership; however, I felt that not having a formal qualification to back up my experience didn’t showcase the skills I have and prevented me from developing further in my career. They encouraged me to take on new challenges, gave me access to leadership qualifications and training, and provided regular sessions to build my knowledge and skills.
Q: How did they help you balance that development with being a parent?
That’s one of the things I value most; they understood that my family responsibilities are just as important as my career growth. Training and development opportunities were offered flexibly, so I could attend without it clashing with family time. If I needed to adjust deadlines or work hours because of my child, it has never been treated as a problem.
Q: What kind of support did you receive to enhance your leadership?
I had a clear, structured development plan that wasn’t just about ticking boxes; it was tailored to me. I have one-to-one coaching, am involved in company decision-making and strategies around product and people and have the space to learn from mistakes without fear. Every step of the way, there was encouragement and trust.
Q: How has that impacted you personally and professionally?
With a master’s degree on the horizon, it has given me more confidence in myself, as it proves to me that I know my stuff! This supports my ongoing development in the workplace and keeps my mind active with new challenges.
Q: What would you say to someone wondering if developing their skills is possible for them?
Don’t count yourself out. With the right support and an employer who understands that you’re more than just your job title, you can achieve so much. I’m living proof of that.
