Two big retrofit & renewables announcements ahead of The Installer Show!

Simply Certification and our sister company Simply Learning will be exhibiting at The Installer Show at Birmingham at Stand 5A76

We have not one but two launches happening at the show.

#1 Flexi-Orb, the new domestic renewables certification scheme is launching at The Installer Show.

Simply Certification are delighted to announce that we are the first UKAS-accredited certification body in the UK to offer the Flexi-Orb scheme and we are officially launching it at The Installer Show 2024 at The NEC Birmingham, 25-27th June.

What is Flexi-Orb?

Flexi-Orb (Flexible Energy Oversight Registration Board) is the new certification scheme aimed at driving up standards and consumer confidence in domestic renewable energy installations.

The scheme covers the installations of Solar PV (photovoltaics), Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS), and is the first in the UK to certify the installation of Electric Vehicle Charge Points (EVCP).

3 reasons why we love Flexi-Orb

  1. The Flexi-Orb scheme is the first in the UK to certify the installation of EV charging points.
  2. It stipulates that products installed must also meet its product standards policies, ensuring that both installations and the products themselves are fit for purpose.
  3. It’s the first renewables installation scheme recognised by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to ISO 17067:2013 – the international standard for conformity assessment and product certification.

But that’s not all!

#2 Simply Certification is launching a specialist retrofit & renewables division.

Time for some R&R?

Simply R&R (retrofit and renewables) is a specialist retrofit and renewables division that we have launched to support the industry in two ways:

  1. To train and upskill PEOPLE, attract new talent into the industry, upskill people already in installations and ensure that there are enough trained people in the industry to support organisations.
  2. To support ORGANISATIONS to get certified so that they can carry out retrofit and renewable installations safely, efficiently and effectively under various public funded and private financial schemes

How does it work?

This is a unique collaboration between our retrofit specialists at Simply Learning and our certification specialists at Simply Certification which addresses two major issues facing the industry by:

  • Increasing the number of qualified people into the retrofit & renewables market
  • Supporting organisations to become certified, ensuring better quality installations and maintenance.

We have developed this division to help demystify the retrofit and renewables market and also support the entire pathway, from training to working/becoming a certified.

The website below will be full of handy resources to get you started and we will be hosting events and training sessions to help you to develop your skills and the skills of your organisation to be retrofit and renewables ready!

Why did we set it up?

The UK Government’s Carbon Net Zero target aims to reduce the country’s greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, by which time all buildings in the UK must be energy rating (EPC) C or above.

As the country increases its move towards net zero, the demand for the safe installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of retrofit and renewable systems will intensify.

Why us?

  1. We have a unique position in the training market as we can see what challenges companies are facing and develop training courses that help support them.
  2. We have specialists within both companies who are passionate about getting as many qualified people into this under-resourced market as possible and then critically, ensuring that the organisations they work for and with are certified to a scheme or standard.
  3. This means that the industry is better equipped to tackle net zero and consumers benefit from better quality installations.

Specialists from both companies will be available at The Installer Show to discuss a range of topics including confined space training, NVQ’s, health and safety, retrofit qualifications and standards including ISO9001, PAS2035, MCS and Flexi-Orb.

All of the resources you need will be housed at the website below.
